Paint A Place

The Paint a Place program is a volunteer non-profit home repair program.  Our mission is to provide free home repairs for elderly, disabled, and low-income residents of lansing while providing job training and community service opportunities for teens and adults.

In our 4th year of operation, we have provided free repairs for 55 of our neighbors that struggle with home repair costs.  Paint A Place is a 501(C)3 non-profit subsidiary of the Northtown Neighborhood Association.  Much more than just painters, we have performed extensive roof repair, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, all at no cost to the homeowner.  We resolve home repair needs for those in need.  While serving our clients we also provide our volunteers with valuable trade skills.  In addition to regular contribution from residents of the Northtown Neighborhood the program enlists volunteers from an array of sources including Teen Challenge, Michigan State University Service Learning Center, Group Workcamps Foundation, area churches, foundations, corporations, and many others.

Paint A Place is supported financially through grants from municipal departments and foundations, as well as monetary and in-kind donations from corporations and individuals.

Our work in the City of Lansing has garnered awards and praise for exemplary service and commitment to community development from numerous sources including the Lansing City Council, Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides, and the Neighborhoods Association of Michigan.
