Friends of Bancroft Park

The park entrance is north of Grand River Avenue at the corner of Taft and Otto Streets.  The hill to the right of the entrance is the highest point in the city of Lansing.  The parkland is home to many different species of birds, wildlife and trees/flowers.  Included are: 

  • Mallard Ducks
  • Canadian Geese, Kingfishers
  • Kingfishers
  • Great Blue Herons
  • Redheaded, Hairy, Ladder Back and Downy Woodpeckers

Trees/wildflowers

  • Sugar Maple
  • White Oak
  • Red Oak
  • Beech
  • Daisy
  • Bee Balm
  • Black-eyed Susan
  • Flea Bane

Other noteworthy thing about Bancroft Park is that it contains the Mason Esker, the longest esker in the Western Hemisphere.
