MMHC Task Force Objectives
Standing Task Force Groups - All activities must be submitted to the MMHC Steering Committee for implementation. - Prepare agenda items for monthly meeting when appropriate.
Steering Committee - Develop MMHC mission statement and vision statement
- Develop bylaws
- Develop long-term action plan
- Ensure compliance with 501c3 stipulations
- Submission of information for listserv publication
- Develop guidelines for appropriateness of listserv information
Public Policy
- Monitor legislation activities or issues related to minority health and disparate health outcome issues and defines appropriate interventions
- Issue informational press releases on health-sensitive legislation or activities that impact minority health and disparate health outcome issues
- Identify and develop public policy platform for MMHC position statement
- Develop public health policy information for town hall or other type meetings to educate public pertaining to minority health and disparate health outcome issues
- Develop plans to provide information to legislative agencies and committees concerning issues, data, etc pertaining to minority health and disparate health outcome issues
Media and Public Relations
- Generate press releases of MMHC activities concerning minority health and disparate health outcome issues
- Identify and foster partnerships and collaborative activities with state wide and national, public, non-profit, private organizations and agencies, and academia to improve MMHC’s organizational capacity to execute public health policy and programming
- Advise on the development and maintenance of MMHC’s website
- Collaboration with staff on the quarterly or semi-annual newsletter and other reports
- Collaboration with staff on the publishing annual reports
Membership and Recruitment
- Development and maintenance of membership rosters and collaborative organizations, including contact info, listserv and mailing lists
- Identify potential new members
- Develop mail and meeting-based membership campaigns
- Develop recommended policy for membership, pending Steering Committee approval, including policies regarding meeting attendance and task force participation
Fund Development
- Develop web-based and direct mail campaigns to generate funds for an operating budget
- Investigate the potential need for annual dues payment for membership in MMHC (individual and organizational)
- Research sources of possible funding and grants for MMHC members
- Submit foundation and other grants for ongoing funding
- Report and submit grant activities to membership list
