Dear East Side Neighbor:
We are informing you about the Eastside Neighborhood Organization(ENO). Established in 1972, our group is a non-profit community of neighbors from the eastside of Lansing. Though, we are a very diverse group of individuals, we feel that by working together, we will be able to meet common goals, preserve and improve our community.
The purpose of ENO, as outlined in our bylaws, is as follows:
To enhance, promote and contribute to the Community by supporting and initiating activities beneficial to the Eastside neighborhood, City of Lansing, Lansing Township, as well as society in general.
To promote community co-operation in solving common problems detrimental to the health, safety and general welfare of the Eastside residents.
To facilitate better communications between Eastside residents and all local governments, their boards and agencies.
ENO provides a monthly forum for discussion of a wide range of issues including, but not limited to traffic, parks, housing, neighborhood improvement projects. We have many speakers at our meetings:
-City Officials, including representatives from the Police Department (Public Safety),
-City Code Compliance, -1st Ward Councilperson
-Other Lansing City Council Members -Lansing Transportation Department
-Planning Department -District 54-A Judges
-Representatives from Sparrow Hospital/ Lansing School District/Local Neighborhood groups ( Eastfield, Potter-Walsh ... for example)
-Allen Neighborhood Center / Oak Park Neighborhood Center
-Boys Training School Advisory Implementation Committee(BTS) ( advisory board for vacant land to be developed between Lansing Catholic Central High School and Orchard Street and Saginaw)
Our group meets the First Wednesday of the Month, unless a Holiday falls on that Wednesday at Foster Community Center, room #213 at 7 pm.
Please join us and come see what/who we are; become informed about your neighborhood and meet your neighbors of the East side of Lansing.
