Ingham Great Start Collaborative (GSC), Birth to Five

Birth to Five is a subcommittee of the Power of We, which is the multipurpose collaborative body for human service agencies in the Capital Area.   The Ingham Great Start Collaborative (GSC), Birth to Five is a coalition of human service agencies, parents, and other partners working together to develop a network of early education and care to support  children and families in Ingham County.  The Ingham GSC, Birth to Five is part of the Michigan Great Start partnership,   information about resources in Ingham and other counties is available at the Michigan Great Start website, www.migreatparents.org

Ingham GSC, Birth to Five Mission: Every family has access to a universal, comprehensive, and collaborative system of community-based early childhood programs, services, and supports.

The Status of Young Children in Ingham County:  The "Report to the Community on the Well-being of Ingham County's Young Children and their Families 2007" is now available: Ingham Community Report 2007.  The results of the Ingham GSC Strategic Planning process in the form of the Ingham Early Childhood Action Agenda is also now available on-line.

Ingham GSC - Birth to Five usually meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 1-3:30pm, and during the summer months at the University United Methodist Church (see calendar).  At each meeting there are progress reports on the Early Childhood Action Agenda and committee reports from work groups including: Early Childhood Literacy Coalition, Public Awareness, Operations Committee, Infant Mortality Initiative, Safe Sleep Coalition, Quality Initiatives, Kindergarten Transition Committee, KEEP Task Force, and Parent Coalition. Child care is available on-site through the Family Growth Center with advance reservations (517)371-1347. There is also time set aside for updates from all participants and discussion of other issues of interest. 

The AGENDA & MINUTES for each of the GSC meetings and the Workgroup meetings are posted at this website (see navigation bar at top left side of this page).  Parents, agency staff, and other interested persons are welcome to attend and participate. Birth to Five serves as the Ingham Great Start Collaborative (GSC) Committee and is a subcommittee of the Ingham Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC)/ Power of We.
