Quit Tobacco Resources
Ingham County Health Department - 887-4315
The Health Promotion Unit provides resources to all callers. Callers are sent: a quit kit, smoking cessation guidance and support to those wishing to quit their tobacco addiction. Ingham Health Plan patients and low income residents can obtain patches and low-cost Zyban.
Single Session Quit Workshop - 887-4315
A free, no pressure, one-session free program. We give you the tools you need to be successful for when you are ready to quit. Information on medication, strategies and available help. RSVP required for MSU sites only.

Counseling is available now for uninsured or underinsured patients; those with IHP qualify. Callers may also qualify for nicotine patches or gum. Patient must complete intake call, mail in an intake form plus a copy of their state id. Other requirements may exist.
Nicotine Anonymous
A free, 12-step program for people with a desire to break their nicotine addiction. Group meeting each Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Doctor's Lounge of the St. Lawrence campus. Contact Kathy @ 627-9606.
Mini Workshop IRMC – 367-5177
One-hour Mini Workshop. A one-hour program about how to quit smoking at Ingham Regional Medical Center, 401 W. Greenlawn, Merriman Center. All programs are held from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. 2005: Dec. 14 2006: February 16 If these times don’t work for your schedule, call to arrange private counseling with a Certified Cessation Counselor to develop a successful plan; Fees apply for private meetings. Health Insurance Provider Coverage
Most health insurance providers will assist patients trying to quit smoking. Call the number on your insurance card and ask what smoking cessation medications and therapies are covered. Some offer telephone support, co-pay coverage of nicotine replacement therapies, and reimbursement for smoking cessation classes.

Smoking cessation counselors are available to provide smoking cessation counseling for members of the Greater Lansing African American community. - Self-Help American Lung Association of Michigan (517) 484-4541 or 1 (800) 548-8252 The American Lung Association has a national phone support system designed to help callers quit their tobacco addiction. Free service nation-wide. Help is offered in 100+ languages and trained cessation counselors will support you with materials and scheduled phone calls that encourage and help you.

The Ingham County Health Department provides free self-help materials, including tobacco information in 13 languages, culturally sensitive quit kits, smoke-free home and car decals and literature on passive smoke. Free Quit kits available. Order between 1-50 kits per call. Order many; give them to friends. - Nicotine Anonymous (517) 627-9606 Kathy Nicotine Anonymous is a 12-step recovery model, adapted from the 12-steps and traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Weekly meetings are held each Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Doctor's Lounge at the St. Lawrence Campus of Sparrow Hospital.
