What Differences Does My Bottle Make

  • Eight two-litre (Pete) bottles equal roughly one pound.
  • Five bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large t-shirt.
  • Five bottles make one square foot of carpet.
  • 25 bottles are needed to make a sweater.
  • Five bottles yield enough fiberfill for a ski jacket
  • 35 bottles are enough to produce fiberfill for a sleeping bag.

Welcome...

The Creation Station located at 200 Museum Dr (lower level of Impression 5 Science Center) in Lansing, Michigan. This all-volunteer run, nonprofit organization provides scrap materials that educators, parents, artists, childcare providers, youth organizations or the general public can use for art, crafts, science or school projects.

Our materials come from donations from local residents and comerical places where we resell them at our store. If you're interested in donating

Our Beginnings...

The idea originated with the innovative art-supply outlet located in the Boston’s Children’s Museum to help maximize teacher’s recourses by providing low cost project materials.  Born out of the alternative education and environmental movements of the 70’s, it has blossomed in recent years as solid waste disposal problems worsened and educational resources dwindled.

An innovative art-supply outlet, such as the Creation Station, not only benefits local industries by relieving them of part of their disposal problem, but also provides provocative project materials. Other similar Michigan programs are The Scrap Box in Ann Arbor and Arts & Scraps in Detroit.

Mission Statement...

Our mission is to develop and sustain an innovative partnership among educational, environmental groups, the artistic community, and business and industry, which provides a public outlet for the reuse of scrap materials, while enhancing educational resources and fostering creativity and environmental awareness.
The Creation Station is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which provides a creative outlet for discarded materials. Every day, thousands of tons of discarded materials are thrown away. The trash takes up valuable space in landfills where it will remain for decades, even centuries. The Creation Station turns trash into treasures!

We help parents and educators use recycled materials for science and art projects, children’s activities and more!  The Creation Station offers environmental education opportunities with low-cost "Trash to Treasures" workshops.
